Prime at The Edith Cavell Modern Dining in the Heart of a Historic Location
A warm and welcoming design perfectly complements the historic building and its surroundings
We were approached by Prime to develop a design and décor scheme that complemented a colour scheme that had already been chosen. The restaurant is above the Edith Cavell pub in Norwich’s historic Tombland, overlooking the Cathedral and monument to Edith Cavell herself..
We produced a floor plan for the client showing what we could achieve in the space and how their request for banquette seating could be incorporated. The deep purple and navy shades that the client’s had already chosen leant themselves to soft and opulent fabrics, so we chose a varied range of upholstery finishes from short pile velvets to grain based faux leather. The space is bright and well lit, allowing us to choose luxurious fabrics and materials in deep tones to create a warm and welcoming atmosphere.
Original wood panelling that remained on some of the walls served as inspiration for the teak stain on the rubberwood table tops and chair legs. Deep cushioned chairs with soft back rests accentuate the plush fabrics to create a dining experience worthy of the surroundings. The stud detailing further adds to the sumptuous feel, whilst still attaining a modern aesthetic. The final design of square fluted banquette seating in grey tweed and navy leather looks effortlessly chic against the wood panelling, bringing the scheme together for a polished result.
